All about Andrew
Thanks for taking the time to visit. I’m a writer and a narrative designer, with a knack for writing stories that linger with you after the final button click. I enjoy challenging my own preconceptions by teasing out reflective stories or by smashing them aside in the midst of raucous action (sometimes both!). Whether it’s through dialogue or placing a protagonist into demanding situations, nothing energises me more than getting to the heart of character.
I currently work as a Game Writer at Outfit7, having graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Masters in Creative Writing. My previous work includes Sony Online Entertainment’s MMORPG ‘The Matrix Online’, as a story writer in the Live Events Special Interest Group (LESIG). My latest independent game ‘The Attendant’, was released in April 2021 and I also managed to sneak a purposefully terrible poem into Inkle’s IGF Nominated ‘Overboard’. I was selected to work with author and narrative designer Greg Buchanan, of Buchanan Productions, as part of his Early Games Writing Mentorship 20/21.
I worked as a ghost writer for The Urban Writers, specialising in both fiction and non-fiction content. I’ve written freelance features and reviews for games, film and TV at outlets like GameRant and GameFreaks365.
Away from games and writing, I visit the cinema and the quiet coffee shop attached so frequently the baristas know my order from memory (which kinda spooks me, even though it’s nice). I spend almost as much time convincing myself I’m not consumed by a variety of sports as I do watching them. I try to keep fit by running around the local park, when I’m not taking photos of it looking pretty (which definitely isn’t a tactic designed to exercise less).
